Customer Service Tips

The information below will help you keep your comfort system running efficiently and extend the life expectancy of your heating and cooling equipment.

By following these tips you will help to minimize unneeded service calls and unexpected equipment failure.

  • Clean or change your air filter every 60 days.
This simple maintenance tip will greatly increase airflow and lower your utility bills. It will also keep your air and ductwork cleaner.

  • Keep your thermostat set at a reasonable temperature.
During the summer months keep your thermostat set at 76 degrees when you are home and at 85 degrees when you are away from home. During the winter months keep your thermostat set at 68 degrees while you are home and 60 degrees when you are away from home or sleeping. If you do not own a programmable thermostat you should consider replacing your existing unit. This simple upgrade will save you money on your current utility bills. In addition, there are rebates available from your local utility provider.

  • Do not store materials or debris around your Comfort System.
Storing any items next to your furnace could be a fire hazard. Furnace units provides a lot of heat and a very powerful flame. Keep debris and storage items away from your outdoor condensing unit. By storing items next to or near the condenser you will restrict airflow across the coils. This will cause the unit to work harder than is needed and will decrease its efficiency. Items stored near the outdoor unit could fall and damage the coil and/or cause a refrigerant leak.

  • Keep your pets away from your outdoor unit.
If you own pets try to keep them away from the outdoor unit. We find that animals chew on the low voltage control wires which may cause a costly repair. We also find that male dogs like to mark there territory on the outdoor coil. In the past we have found that this will cause the coil to disintegrate and the coil will eventually leak refrigerant.

  • Have your comfort system professionally maintained.
We find systems that are maintained by trained service technicians have fewer problems and an increased life expectancy.

And, we’ve been working here locally for over 55 years.
